The biggest problem begins with a lack of clear information. 1) what will the NEW Big 12 contract look like, which I believe won't go into effect for 3 years? Is there a financial incentive to add teams due to a playoff or adding a significant footprint, which means more than an isolated additional school far from OK and TX. Or does the current contract in effect for an least the next 3 years already include provision for 12 teams and a playout? 2) What will be the division of revenues from the new playoff among the top 5 conferences? Will it vary yearly based on participation or be allocated based on the prior BCS performances or be subject to revision after 6 years based on performance? 3) The ACC controls the TV rights to the Orange bowl as does the SEC-Big 12 for the 5 year Champs bowl. What will be the TV payouts? Will the ACC receive a comparable net payout since it is not a co-owner of the TV rights? Will they end up being able to get the highest ranking at large team outside the playoffs, Rose and Champs bowl? 4) What happens in the next 5 years that may change UT and OK minds about the Big 12? The SEC may establish it's own channel and with entry into TX and Missouri, will that affect coverage and viewership of the LHN in TX? The Bg 12 would appear to have limited prospects long term for a conference channel due to small markets and the fact that ESPN has removed UT from the equation and created conflicts of interest. 5) What does UT and company (OK, Tech, OSU) want in terms of the Big 12? They have a very compact conference. UT is receiving a very strong and lopsided payout from the ESPN deal not shared by the other schools. The conference just signed a major 5 year Bowl ageement with the SEC. They recently loss A&M, Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri; do they really want to add 2-4 additional teams and send their non-football teams to Florida and along the southeast coast? 6) Once the new Big 12 contract is finished, does everyone sign the 13 year GOR? 7) Next year after SU and Pitt enter the ACC, a historic transformation occurs; the ACC becomes a true north-south coastal conference from Miami to Boston. What happens in the next 5 years? Will the 5 year look-in add to the payout based on significantly greater viewership and interest in the ACC? 8) What do the SEC and Big 10 TV and network payouts look like by 2016? Meanwhile a large number of Big 12 zombie, hyperactive posters taking their cue from posters like "the dude" and others, who claim to be privy to confidential documents and secret negotiations, conduct an extreme campaign of misinformation and hysteria, constantly changing their facts and predictions and explanations of "done deals" based on "moving targets". The FSU scout board is exhibit number one. The WVU Scout realignment board seems to be the home base. If anything, it makes one appreciate the value of a moderated board like this one.
