At the very least, Syracuse games have been fun. The Orange haven’t had much success, but they’ve been entertaining.

They gave Notre Dame fits for a half – but the special teams play was abysmal, and the defense continued having major problems with anyone with an offense. That’s an issue when dealing with teams like Louisville and Notre Dame, but Wake Forest should finally provide a little bit of a break.

The Demon Deacons have been one of the ACC’s biggest surprises with a terrific 4-1 start – highlighted by a win over an Indiana team that beat Michigan State – but a loss to NC State last week stalled the season. With Florida State up next, and with Louisville and Clemson still to deal with, getting a fifth win now would be massive for bowl hopes.

The Wake Forest offense can’t keep up the pace if Syracuse gets going, and the secondary hasn’t been anything special. So how is the team doing it? Takeaways have been a big part of it, but the aggressive defensive front has been able to make up for the other issues.

It won’t happen this week – the Syracuse offense will finally be able to bomb its way to a win. The Demon Deacon O will have one of its most productive days against a bad SU D, but it won’t be enough.
