Syracuse football 2023 defensive line: No longer a question mark, SU’s front has chance to shine
Caleb Okechukwu and Kevon Darton return as anchors to the D-line.
Still miffed about Geer leaving. He gave us strength, toughness, and quickness with run stopping ability. I think he will be missed.![]()

I'm pretty sure we certainly wanted to keep him here. We know he had great potential. Unfortunately his production here was somewhat minimized due tot the fact he couldn't gain weight. Good to hear he's now been able to go from 217 lbs to 235 lbs and I would guess a large reason for that being his metabolism is likely starting to change. Wish that would have started to happen sooner.I was listening to the big 12 interviews and the TT coach said Steve Linton was a freak athlete. Said he thought he might be one year and NFL bound. Said he was a rare talent. He went on on about him. Raved about him. Said hes up to 235. Seriously the coach said he was a special player.
Dont sleep on the Bama kidI think Caleb is gonna do great things this year. Darton will make a ton of plays cause he will be fresh like in beginning of last year. bama transfer will do well also. I miss Linton and Greer but i would rather have a Caleb than them two who wants to be here. My dream would be a 320lb Darton and no not him gaining weight. A gap stuffing animal that has to be doubled which leaves our backers able to play in space.
He doesn't like that.Dont sleep on the Bama kid
If Linton performs the way that the TT coaches are intimating, you kind of have to go, “hmm.” That along with his weight gain does make me wonder a little bit about what the issue was here. His coach was chirping about our nutrition etc. I don’t know. Will be interesting.I was listening to the big 12 interviews and the TT coach said Steve Linton was a freak athlete. I have to believe that a dedicated football nutritionist has helped him. We are always a lap behind the leaders in this power 5 race, it seems. It's very frustrating. If Linton performs the way that the TT coaches are intimating, you kind of have to go, “hmm.” That along with his weight gain does make me wonder a little bit about what the issue was here. Still feel at 235 he does not fit at DE in the 335. DE are around 265. LBs are 235 plus. He may do well at TT it does not mean he was the best fit at SU.I have to believe that a dedicated football nutritionist has helped him. Many of us have said the same things about Linton the TT coach said. Ive always thought he was the most SEC type of athlete we had on the team. The issue was his commitment to weight gain while he was at SU. A different scene can inspire you to be better. Or the nutrition program was just that much better. It still doesnt make a lot of sense when most of the SU team has gained functional weight. I hope he shows all the things we thought he could do. The scheme fits him more.If Linton performs the way that the TT coaches are intimating, you kind of have to go, “hmm.” That along with his weight gain does make me wonder a little bit about what the issue was here. Glad you mentioned him in this thread. Not only does he make as many eye-popping plays as Linton, he won't quit on his teammates. Hopefully Lowery can tee off this year with more size and depth on the DL.He’s not technically DL, but keep your eyes on Leon Lowery.
Don't let his size fool you. Darton plays like a man amongst boys at times. He can be extremely disruptive. It's surprising, but he gets the job done. And he is tough as nails; he never needs to come off the fieldSo we have Ingraham at 298 lbs and Darton 32 lbs lighter(266).
WHOA...
OK you're the opposition center. You have to play against strength...then speed.
I gotta believe that by the end of the 3rd quarter, the center's technique is starting to breakdown
and there is going to be some yellow linen on the field.
Are you hearing something about him/is there something that you particularly like about him? I'm just curiousDont sleep on the Bama kid
He was injured for almost his entire time at Bama, had to medically retire. So the excitement for me at least is if he is healthy like he said he is, we’re getting a raw talent that was good enough to play for Alabama. Are you hearing something about him/is there something that you particularly like about him? I want to be excited about him because he is from Alabama but I don't recall that he produced much there ...
