So uh, what if Clemson keeps regressing? How do they justify that contract if he suddenly starts going 8-4 or 9-3 year in and year out? Dabo is famously incredibly inflexible, which is not a way to remain consistent.Clemson basically saying - we KNOW that HE GONE the second the 'Bama job opens up.
So, we're gonna make them pay. Since it's the best/only thing we can do.
I guess that’s the price to pay for competing in that world. That seems like a lot of money even for insane boosters to buy outSo uh, what if Clemson keeps regressing? Venables might have been the x factor with the defenseif they start to see a dip in the quality of the D like they have at QB they become pretty beatable.. its gonna be 2-3 yrs before we know if thats gonna happen.
BIngo. There was zero reason to extend and raise his salary. He's not going anywhere and if Bama calls, we aren't outbidding them anyway. I have no idea what we are doing at this point...So uh, what if Clemson keeps regressing? How do they justify that contract if he suddenly starts going 8-4 or 9-3 year in and year out? It isn’t easy, I’ll tell you!I just don't get it. Dabo is making $10 million per year.
When do these coaches have time to spend this money? Supposedly coaches are always working. Who cares if I make $10 million per year if I can't enjoy it.
I get it but just seems like a waste. It feels like they would have no problem paying whatever, especially since they bring in 50M more than the ACC schools will...What you (Clemson) are doing, is getting Bama to pay for a chunk of whatever you'll hafta pay to Dabo's replacement.
Yes - there's the risk that Clemson might want to get rid of him somewhere in the future, if the trajectory tails off.
But it seems like the bigger risk is him getting poached by 'Bama, and this is pretty much all they have to try to make it a little more painful for them to do so.
Wait until he finds out he has to pay taxes on those earnings.
Seriously. I saw a video of Jim Harbaugh at the airport waiting for plane delay after plane delay. Hey dude charter a jet you can afford itI just don't get it. Dabo is making $10 million per year.

The way he was talking about it I thought he was fed up and going to retire.NIL is ruining the game!
They have lovely pools that they use once a year to host their team at a summer BBQ.I just don't get it. Dabo is making $10 million per year.

I forget the origin of the quote, I think it was a baseball player in negotiation said something like "I'm trying to take care of my family." The executive's response was "what generation." That to me must be the smart play with all that cash, the ability to ensure your families future and with money comes options. As a capitalist, I am all for the coaches making what the market allows... as they do provide a lot to the colleges and universities that they serve. The numbers are mind boggling on all sides!I just don't get it. Dabo is making $10 million per year.

It will be interesting to see if Dabo can get his QB to play to his potential. So uh, what if Clemson keeps regressing? How do they justify that contract if he suddenly starts going 8-4 or 9-3 year in and year out? Dabo is famously incredibly inflexible, which is not a way to remain consistent.
