For members who still have Scout premium memberships, there are a number out there, here's the latest on this fine looking prospect from the Class of 2014.

Johnson making an impression on coaches
SyracuseInsider.com (subscription) - Brian Snow - 2 hours ago

Syracuse, Georgetown, Louisville, Kentucky, those schools and a bunch of others have come by,” noted Johnson. To this point Johnson has really only had a ...

This kid (New Jersey... certainly Rutgers will be in the running)..class of 2014 ... is now just a sophmore (15 years old) and is 6'10, 240#!!!! There are a lot of schools all over this kid btw.

PayPal Cal is strongly connected to his H.S. and AAU coaches. Was told early last month that as long as Cal is still at UK, they'll be tough to beat.

Francis, I know he was at St. Pats in NJ, but didnt he switch and follow his coach down to Florida. Does that make any difference in this case, or is it still the same story with his coach and Cal?

That is what I have been reading as well. The talk on the Kentucky board is that he is as good as theirs.

Same story, I wasn't talking about St. Pat's as the school per say, I was referring to the coaches such as Boyle, and the Gauchos AAU staff. We haven't sniffed an Gauchos recruit since the early 90's.

I thought I read an article that said SU was Dakari's favorite school?

Doron Lamb who comes from the same AAU program as Johnson, said SU was also his favorite school and you seen how that played out.

Did JB back off Lamb?

Trust me if the choice was up to Lamb he would've been wearing orange. I wish recruiting was just as simple as a kid picking a school that he likes the most. Unfortunately backdoor politics with shoe companies, shady coaches, and handlers are always in play.

I know we got a commitment from Dion very very early. Did JB not want to bring in 2 SGs in the class with Scoop and BT already here? Did he think he was a headcase? Did he worry about him being a prima donna 1-and-done? Lamb definitely has skill and can shoot the ball all day - something we could've used last year

Well, all we can really worry about is getting Fab, BMK, and Rak to the next level. Win over Coleman and Noel, and do the same to them. If we can do that, I think we can close the gap when it comes to Dakari. Then reel him in as the finishing touch to establishing a new found reputation for developing centers. I love the upside bigs we are going after, it's maybe the one area that lags behind the others in JB's tenure.

I really really like our chances according to that article.

#1. he lists us first and Kentucky last.
#2. he says he wants to go somewhere where he has to compete. That has always been Syracuses way where kentucky is more one and dones every year now.
#3. Hes a NY native who plays in florida now. We are NYState college team.
We are playing florida this year recently got fab from florida and our football team is getting momentum down there.
#4. Now that Syracuse is in the ACC recruits get the dome to practice and become shaolin basketball monks in the dead of winter before traveling to the warm weathered ACC on the road. ;)
