Daoust a great friend for Syracuse Football

Both him, Coach Bullough, and Coach Shafer are wonderful people. The kind of men a father wants mentoring his son when he's not there. They're some of the very few coaches in D1 football, I believe, that see a kid as a whole person, and not some football-playing commodity.

Well articulated. This is one of the main reasons I appreciate and support this staff even knowing that the team has struggled in the win-loss department. Character, values and off the field/life development of our student-athletes are things rarely discussed on this board. These things are important to me in the bigger picture as I continue to invest (time and money) in this program.

I disagree. If we ding Shafer for making bad hires like McDonald, then we need to give him credit for bringing on some really good coaches. I don't think you retain him to retain Daoust - but when you evaluate the staff I think he gets credit for him.

The poster said another reason to extend Shafer is the story about Daost and their relationship. That wouldn't be a consideration.

Agree.
