Is it me, or does it seem like the past few weeks/months of recruiting has been nothing more than dartboard recruiting? Most of the posts around here have been of the "well this guy dropped...how about this guy?" variety.

Is this more due to the lack of a recruiting news from a dedicated writer like Matt Aikre? Or is it because the recruiting at SU has been generally that poor?

Between the team meltdown, player defection/dismissals and recruiting misses, the past 16 weeks of the HCDM era have made me quite pessimistic of the team's future.

I'd put it more on the coaching staff being tight lipped so there being no concrete info to report. Info gets out, helicopters take flight. Not having a dedicated writer certainly hurts the info stream I'm sure.

Only thing we have on this board is conjecture of who we MIGHT be interested in or who is interested in us which is certainly better than nothing.

What don't you like about the existing commits? At this point the staff is looking for gravy and/or depth.

Caused, at least in part, by getting a lot of early commits --not so much work to do in January and coaches are spending some of the time on the juniors. Only have 4 or 5 open spots (subject to qualifying -- ), and we have some info about visits in the next couple of weekends. Kids who haven't visited, aren't likely to be signing with us.

Need that CB, a couple of DEs, keep the Florida LB -- any others would be gravy. I would like to see a WR as insurance (Lemon had surgery), but does not appear that the coaches see that as a priority.

Please remember that what you read on this board doesn't accurately represent what's going on. It's only what we think, hear and believe, which isn't very much. I doubt HCDM and staff are reading the board and saying "Ooh, I read this kid decommitted or dropped. Let's give him a shot!" That's our baloney.

it was quiet last year till that one night on TOS where it was like xmas morning when Matt A. UNLEASHED all those commits. Marrone's tenure is like the damn secret service there is never any inside info, usually most football programs have a writer that is on the IN with the coach and staff, but obviously we dont have that. #indougwetrust

You want Doug to leak recruiting information for our entertainment? You do know that's an NCAA violation, don't you?

Agree with your needs. Would like to see a deep-threat wideout, possibly from the JUCO ranks, surprise us all. You're right, with Lemon on the fence for'12, we need a go to guy, and I don't mean Sales.

How about we already have like 20 commits, there has been steady work on this class for the past 3 years. Give yourself a break and have some chocolate. Looks pretty good to me.

I guess it's probably perspective as much as anything. We have also received news on here of some good developments over the last 6 weeks or so. A lot of people on here are nervous leading up to NLOI signing day. What you read on this site is not necessarily (and probably not even close) to what is actually going on with the recruiting. A lot of folks freak out that we haven't offered a schollie to someone who is available and immediately attribute this to the ignorance of our coaching staff, without so much as a reason to believe this. Others will have you believe that the HC is a lame-duck since he has already irretrievably lost the team, hence the reason for the impending mass exodus of key players that is no doubt coming very soon.

My advice is to just chill out, grab a good beer, enjoy the hoops program and show up 2/1 like a kid on Christmas morning unwrapping each present one by one. We can assess the class at the end of the day.

I think this perception also reflects our changing needs, particularly the recent announcements of Jones, Graham and Thomas. For example, recruiting a DE has suddenly become a greater priority.

It's you.
