A lot of people were saying they didn't like Brad. But I really didn't think he was bad at all. I add two disclaimers - this is coming off listening to Len Elmore who would make anybody sound good in comparison and I tend to get less annoyed with announcers when we play well and are winning the whole game.
Brad is one of the best people you'll ever meet. He is from Asheville where I live now and I have met and talk to Brad on several occasions. Back a few years ago I was at the Y on a Saturday morning playing hoops when Brad came in with his young son. His boy was playing in a league that followed our early morning exercise (hard to legitimately call it basketball) and so they watched as we finished up. After we finished I went over to Brad and told him we were here ever Saturday morning and why didn't he come down and play with us. His reply was priceless and made me feel he should enter politics. He said " I don't know - you guys look pretty tough" He is knowledgeable and I love his Southern twang. We Yankees should sound so soft in our speech and genuine and thoughtful in our feelings.
he is so much better than the majority of the other idiots on that network...i thought last night's game was well-called...thankfully, a lot of the usual BSPN self-promotion was missing as well...if only they had gotten rid of that ridiculous countdown ticker to tonight's football game...soon they will fill 75% of the screen with fluff and we will only have a tiny window in which to see the actual game
I don't have a real issue for him. He seemed very pro FSU but much of that IMO was that he just felt bad for them and wanted them to compete better plus they were so lost against or zone. I felt he could have done more talking about SU and what we were doing well but he was by no means as annoying as many that we have to listen to and certainly knows basketball in general even if he isn't all that familiar with the personnel of the teams.
He made an excellent point that you don't hear that much. He said that we guard the ball more than the man and that it confuses teams. Now that's not 100% true but it is in the way we slide from our zones and collapse and or trap. We often leave 1 and sometimes two guys unattended because they are so far away weak side that its hard to get it to them. We react to the ball more than the players.
I love that he gets excited. Speaks off the cuff. Calls it how he sees it. He can use some refining, as we all can, but I enjoyed listening to him on the call last night.
Daugherty was a breath of fresh air compared to some of the mouth breathers they throw out there. The only thing that was slightly annoying I thought was his need to analyze every possession, especially early on in the game. Sometimes silence is golden, just for a minute.
Aside from the twang I liked him as well. I thought he was pretty fair to SU in coverage. Was definitely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He just got over excited when Bojangles did something positive being a big himself.

brad was a broken record last night. "feed the ball into the middle of the paint...middle of the paint,,,middle of the paint ,middle,paint,paint,feed,paint... how clever and original. great analysis.
