What makes him worth $5m? His results are on par with the coach he replaced. He's never won the conference, or even the Atlantic Division. He hasn't won a "New Years' Day Bowl" while at NCST.

UNC's Mack is making $5MM/yr. He has a long history of top-level recruiting, winning teams, rebuilds and a championship.

IMO he is overrated as a HC. Plays weak OOC schedules every year and hasn't won anything. This season was only his 2nd finishing in the Top 25 (would that have happened with the Bowl?) and it also was his highest finish at 19/20. His 9 seasons there he has been 34-40 in conference. Yes, a losing record. He needs to go 6-2 the next 2 seasons just to get over .500, but somehow he has had only 2 seasons with less than 7 Ws (hello OOC). This season was only his 2nd time finishing Top 2 in division, and 6 out of 9 years he has finished 4th or worse.

I also think all HCs are well overpaid. That being said based on the market he should be making $4.5M tops. So he is being overpaid for the market but not by much.
