Davis comments that "JB didn't know". Isnt that opposite of what he said earlier?

This last week or so, it continues to be repeated that Davis has said JB did not know, in a more concrete, undeniable manner. For ex, someone just posted Schwarz is continuing to report this...

However, isn't that counter to what he said, and Schwarz spun earlier? Davis said JB would give me looks when he'd see me in bed, in shorts, etc. He was implying, if not out right alleging, JB either knew, or should have known. Schwarz ran with this, too, early on.

Am I wrong thinking this is a different approach now for Davis, and Schwarz?

What an ironic turn. Davis becomes JB's witness in saying JB didn't know. Now if Davis had not originally said that JB saw him and Bernie together, we would not be having the discussions currently raging on the board ... because JB would not have said what he originally said in response to what Davis originally said.

yeah, everyone seems to be taking steps back (except for Fitz).

Couldn't agree more. Now that I have seen what the Fines are about (really, LF is worst in all of this), I want to see that Davis continuing to say that JB did not know and we find that this stuff with BF was post-18. JB survives that and the program doesn't take a hit (at least major hit).

What exactly did Schwartz spin? If Davis said JB gave him looks and Schwartz says, "Davis said JB saw him in BF's hotel room..." where is the spin? It's schwartz's job to dig as deep as he can and find out as much of this story as possible. That includes finding out what JB knew, if possible. This is still an unanswered question. I'm not ESPN's biggest fan, but the fact that people are still angry about Schwartz at this point is odd.

Nothing about this case adds up. Which is why I am sure it was dismissed by the PS, ESPN, and SU in the past. I am still not 100% sure that Bernie is a pedophile. There is still not one piece of evidence. The tape only confirmed that Bernie touched Davis. It did not establish if it was pre 18. Until the investigation is done and all the facts come out, we should all take a chill pill. That includes any decision on JB's future. Acting now IMO would be foolish for SU, especially if this becomes like the Duke rape case.

Schwarz did not report both sides of the story. He should be fired. Throwing in the fact that ESPN dismissed this in 2003 and also never mentioning the tape is inexcusable. He acted as Davis' public defender and did not even care to tell SU side of things, or even Bernie's.

CTO, I agree 100%. JB's comments on Davis being a liar were a retort to Davis's implication that JB knew what was going on. JB is taking some hits for accusing Davis of being a liar, but JB's comments did the trick in that Davis is no longer even implicitly involving JB and in fact is doing just the opposite.

Really supports the liar comments JB made and it's understandable why he responded that way. He probably should have stopped there instead of including the extortion element of his reaction, but I'm sure he was extremely pissed off to be included in those accusations.

This story is so crazy. I can't even wrap my head around everything that that tape suggests. This isn't something that Law & Order or some Lifetime movie would even be able to dream up.

If your child was molested during the 8 years ESPN/Schwartz sat on the tape would you feel the same way?

Schwartz said last night that ESPN sat on the tape for 8 years because "we did not know what to do with it." What?!?! How about handing it to law enforcement authorities and SU -- the two organizations with the power to look into it and stop any more crimes.

Can anyone provide a logical explanation as to why that was not the appropriate course for ESPN, if not its absolute moral obligation?

Oddly enough, Carmelo himself recently starred in a Law& Order episode about a high school basketball coach who molested kids and paid them hush money.

But the authorities were already investigating the case, right? And didn't Laurie Fine, at the time, say Davis was a liar? And did ESPN know the authorities didn't have the tape? There are enough holes that they couldn't be sure to run the story. Yes, the timing with the PSU case looks bad but it may have been what ESPN needed to get further corroboration of the story. My guess is that ESPN felt there were enough holes and enough credibility concerns that they couldn't risk libelous story. They likely also figured if the university and the authorities and the DA's office were aware of the situation, that they were doing the investigating. You can't just get a tape, talk to a guy and run a story.

ESPN should have said

Oh my god this is awful. What did the police have to say? What you didn't bring this to the police? Why not?

Then they should have gone to the police with it.

Also why didn't Davis' ex GF (forgot her name already) take the tape to the police? She said she heard it. So all she did was tell Davis to call the police one time and then leave a message her self with no call back number? What? If this happened to a friend of mine and they had a tape I would have dragged them by the ear to the police department with tape in hand.

. Honestly, why is it so hard for people to grasp the difference between airing a story and contacting the police?? Do you really think they are one and the same and judged by the same standard??
