March 22, 2016 SYRACUSE, N.Y. - With March Madness in full swing for both the men's and women's basketball programs after advancing to the Regionals of their respective NCAA Tournaments. Orange fans must not forget that their football team is still on the practice field getting a jump start on the 2016 season. After a week off, due to Spring Break, Syracuse took the field again this morning to hone their skills. Their energy was on full display, as the players dusted off a little rust following their recent respite. This team does have a sound focus which has been evident throughout "Spring Training," and it is important to continue to prepare with the Spring Game just under two weeks away. Here are some takeaways from today's session at the Ensley Athletic Center: - Eric Dungey is still the only quarterback wearing a black jersey, while the others are in orange jerseys. Head Coach Dino Babers still has not revealed his plans for the starting role at quarterback, but this uniform feature has become a trend for a couple weeks. - Quarterbacks and receivers were a little sloppy at first during passing drills as the players re-accustomed themselves to the speed of practice. However, within minutes it became sharper and more fluid. - Erv Philips is really showing solid explosion running routes and good hands catching the football. This is a welcoming sign after he was sidelined for a portion of last season with injuries. - Running backs were set off in the corner of one of the endzones working on strength, as their colleagues held on to them as they tried to run with the ball. High knees agility drills were also incorporated into their workout. - The offensive line continues to work on strength drills in their stance, as well as getting off the line and pushing forward. - Defensive players had a lighter early workout today. First the standard stretching, then backs worked on catching passes and linemen worked on getting out of their stance after coming through the tent. Music Selection: You guessed it, Santana and Rob Thomas lead the way. Followed up by a series of hip-hop tracks. *Note: View video play list for the sights and sounds from this morning's session [/QUOTE]
