Big day tommorow in that tommorow the heart doctors and specialists at Columbia Presbyterian hospital in NYC (some of the best heart surgeons in the world) will be doing Ricks somewhat delayed heart surgery.  The delay was to allow some healing with other but related side issues which have cleaned up nicely to allow the implantation of a pump like device called an LVAD device to assist and counteract his heart failure issues.

As for causation and finality (in terms of future Rx) the former they at this point really do not know the hows and whys of how this occurred as to if a post virus issue of some type (never had Covid before or now) or some other causation like routine heart disease. The dr. in me believes if it was the latter here that would be easy to figure.  It may always remain a mystery.

BUT the good news is one can live a long long normal life with such a device like this much in the way people do with pacemakers and the like.  They don't know if they'll ultimately recommend a heart transplant down the road or stick with this, regardless, the track record of the LVAD is quite good.

So lets hope and pray and have big Rick in our hearts minds and thoughts tomorrow as this proceeds. You go Rick, you got this and we'll look forward to hearing the good news that it went well real soon.  Love ya bro!
