Wolford's passer rating was 130 which is ho hum everywhere but SU (dungey looks like he can make us forget how bad it's been here)

I know there are big problems in the secondary but despite all the passing yards, the pass defense was good enough. The ints happened you can't ignore them. They're not predictive so we might be in trouble later but for just yesterday, id take a 130 opposing passer rating just about every time.

130 and stopping the run.

the run D is key. a bit better on 3rd and long and the D will be fine even with the passing yards allowed. Wake thru quick and on time, it seemed like every time we disrupted that timing we got to him. if we can force teams to be one dimensional we can stay in every game.

Our defense is still young. They will get better. Wolford may be one of the best QBs they face all season, though certainly other QBs will have better lines in front of them. Most college QBs will not make the fast reads like Woldford.

I saw very little press coverage which could have helped disrupt the timing of the routes. Simple pitch and catch for most of the first half.

i'd say our picks have mostly been the direct result of the d-line hitting the qb during the throw and not great db coverage.

Take out the 3rd INT and what was his rating because he forced that throw. The front 7 played great and caused the first 2 INTs and they rattled the kid in 2nd half. Our pass D gives easy windows for mediocre QBs to get the ball to WRs by playing off every play. I can live with teams moving the ball if they commit turnovers but our pass D needs to clamp down a little more.

It is worth it if we are forcing INTs. However of the 6 prior seasons of Shafer/Bullough we have only had 1 good season of in conference INT rates (2013). This season is off to a great start so maybe that will change.

Why are ignoring Dungey's passing rating?

Rating Yards TD
197.8 335 4

He is averaging 11 yards per attempt

I posted about it in another thread

Winfield disagrees. He had great coverage on that garbage time pick in the end zone.
