I haven't seen this discussed, if it has been please point me to it.

It seems to me that the last 2 games we abandoned our defensive scheme of disguising blitzes and pressuring the qb. Against USF I can sort of understand given the running qb. However, against Va their qb was a statue. Yet we let him sit back and take all day to throw and pick us apart. We blitzed very few times. Why that strategy? And why no adjustment when that didn't work?

Even on obvious passing downs, we sat back. Someone please explain the coaching perspective on this.

I didn't notice that per se. Winfield came on a corner blitz and knocked the ball loose.

I hope they are catching on to a correlation, the more aggressive the offense plays, the more yards we gain and points we score. The more aggressive the defense plays the less yards are given up and less points scored.

IT IS OK FOR THE OFFENSE TO GET AGGRESSIVE BEFORE WE GET BEHIND

A LEAD SHOULD NOT BE THE ALL CLEAR SIGNAL FOR THE DEFENSE TO GO INTO A TURTLE SHELL

With that said, I think we will be ok, win 6 games this year and do better each of the next 3 years.

Agreed. They pretty much played not to lose on both sides of the ball vs UVa and it lost us the game.

They have a year and a half to show us that this is not what they really believe about how football is to be played.

That's not happening. For some guys that's just their mentality.

Just have to hope the team executes on a higher % of plays.

heres the thing, you cant play 'not to lose' unless you can really really coach.

hate to use marrone, but he could do that.

we dont have the talent to do that. eventually the cream will rise to the top.

our best bet is to just let it rip and when the dust settles, hope to be on top.
