They play Wednesday night at Temple.

Also, it looks like the DSU head coach might have been Trevor Cooney's high school coach. According to this, he coached the Sanford School for 29 years and left in 2021.

DSU losing to Temple 35-27 at half. The leading scorer for DSU has 13 pts including a few 3's. #37. Tall skinny kid who played a couple years at Harcum College which I never heard off. Temple is preseason pick #9 in the American Conference and only one of four teams in the conference to return two players (or starters?). Not a good time to be a low major head coach.

We should roll Saturday, but it will be interesting to see if they make any adjustments at halftime.

Meanwhile Bingo only beat RIT tonight by 10… without Lilley though who is hands down their best player.

DSU's guards looking much more aggressive in the 2nd half going to the rim. Down 46-42 with 14 minutes left.

Final 83-65 in favor of Temple. DSU's defense was lacking. First playing what appeared to be a 2-3 and then a 3-2 and then MTM, but it didn't appear they knew what defense they were playing. Did not do a particularly good job with secondary help in the paint. Plus Temple beat them down court so many times that they could never set up.

Their leading scorer and rebounder was #4, Bethea, who had 20/8 and is listed at 6'4, 200. I assume Kingz will matchup with him.

Temple should have won by more, but they missed 9 free throws.

Wow didn’t realize how bad Temple might be. They lost all their top scorers last year and did pretty poorly in the portal…
I'm not sure they did worse than many other mid-major programs in the portal.

They're going to be .500 or a little better. The American isn't exactly murderer's row outside of Memphis.

Based on who they lost to the portal and eligibility they will have a rough time getting to .500 I think.

Mashburn, Stanford, Settle and Berry were big losses and then you look at who they went and got in replacement… not saying those guys were world beaters given Temple was only 17-15 but still.

I think fit is so important. Especially at the mid-major level. Those guys didn't play much defense. Stanford & Berry are the only two that still had eligibility. They may have had talent, but I don't think they're team oriented.

A lot of the guys on the roster now have played a lot of college basketball. And talent wise, Ford was a top 70 recruit who went to Arkansas. Griffiths was a top 50 recruit who was at Nebraska and Rutgers. That's not nothing.

It’s not nothing I get that but not sure I see any upgrade defensively with either and there wasn’t much vs Delaware State to show otherwise that I saw.

I get fit and talent is hard to purely base on those rankings given the lack of production at prior stops.

We shall see. They pulled away from a bad D St team late that took a step back roster wise from one their best squads in a while last year.

Bethea is well traveled.
