Safe to assume Thompson will play as well?
I would like to see Broyld listed as an option for every offensive position except down linemen.Bothers me that Broyld isn't on it...
Not worried about whether he will play. The issue is how much he will play.. No one will be happy if he only gets one or two touches a half.. Given the offensive philosophy I have witnessed, it is a real concern. The coaches view him at best as the third option at RB, why he is not an "or" is beyond me.. Will not believe any change in the offensive philosophy until I see it...Doug said he will see playing time so need to worry about that.
That depth chart makes me laugh. Coaching paranoia just emanating from it. I'd elaborate further but I don't feel like being accused of giving secrets to the enemy.

I don't have any insider info or anything. I just think I have an idea how our staff thinks. They're trying to play the chess match. Any of our esteemed posters could have made a depth chart worth as much.Oh come on, you're a bigger tease than my date to the prom.

Then Dougie is a tremendous actor if he's playing coy. Watch today's presser. He plainly says he's not trying to fool anybody with the depth chart release. For the record, I have no idea if he is or not
Let's see how this plays out vs. NW. It's a must win game and Marrone and the Coordinators needs to play it aggressively. I think if they do, they win.Honestly I think he is FOS. Either that or he is writing his own obit. Shouldn't an O that has stunk it up bad the last two years under his system be looking to get the 5 best skill position players on the field at the same time? Sorry but I can easily make a better pairing with our 2nd teamers than Lemon, Sales, Wales, Smith, and Cleveland. If we see those 5 guys together often, it will be a long year. I think that was an issue last year as well with Marrone's O. Too many two TE or FB formations where more talented players sat on the bench. That will tell me he has learned nothing and things will never change.
However based on what I witnessed last week I think he has changed. Yes there was a lot of 2 TE sets still, but I do not recall seeing the FB out there at all. Which makes no sense that it is listed on the depth chart. Also in past depth charts we had 12 starters listed to account for 2 TEs or a FB. So why the change this time?
Other thoughts on the depth chart:
-Please redshirt Emerich. Don't waste a year by having him play special teams. Can't we get by with Trudo or Philips at C in an emergency? If Mackey gets hurt and is out for awhile, then let Emerich play.
-Get rid of the Or at RG. The OL should be set by now. We better not be sharing reps still. Let Foy be the starter and should he fail the first 2-4 games then think about putting Trudo in.
-Marrone says he may play 5 RBs yet only two are listed and there are no Or's? Why not have AAM or any other RB as an Or on the 2nd team?
-The DL is a surprise. Not the starting 4 as those are likely our best 4, but because all Spring and all camp we have been playing a big DL. We had one of our giants at DT and Goggins at DE. Now the giants are on the bench and Goggins is back at DT, making us much smaller. I am sure we will still mix and match depending on the situation, but I found the change to go bigger interesting and now the change back right as the season is about to start interesting as well.
-I have always liked Wilkes but I kinda find it disappointing that Esk or Desir did not beat him out. Wilkes is a solid player, but the other two have so much potential that I was hoping one would emerge. Especially Desir who I love.
-Lyn must be a PIA to have not won a spot. Not only that he is listed as an Or. He is a very good cover guy and IMO has a lot of talent. Plus Anderson seems to get beat too often.
