Dickey vs. Santana

Tonight R.A. Dickey faced 29 Rays. He got 27 out, with 12 strikeouts and no walk.s David Wright tried to barehand two balls, one called a hit, (the Mets are appealling but don't hold your breath), and one called an error. Dickey extended his scoreless inning streak to 32 and 2/3, (a club record), losing it on the error, two passed balls, (he's a knuckleballer) and a ground-out.

Santana's no hitter was, of course, really a one-hitter as Beltran's ball hit the chalk but the ump blew the call, (it's in the books, just like Dickey's one hitter and isn't going anywere). He faced 32 hitters, gave up no official hits, stuck out 8 and walked 5. There were no errors.

Dickey was better.

And Matt Cain was even better than both of them. What a night in the Bay.

Agreed that I thought Dickey outpitched Santana in the no hitter. Got a ton of weak ground balls, plus the K's, and no walks.

Dickey's return from the scrap heap is one of the great stories in sports . . . it will make a fine movie someday. At this point, he deserves to start the All Star game, but I bet they hand the ball to Strasburg because he is more appealing to TV as a young star of the future

Strasburg is pretty damn great also. I think you can flip a coin between the two. (Do you have a 4 sided coin? You can throw Gio and Matt Cain in there as well, I guess)

Strasburg is really amazing, he has basically been one of the best pitchers in baseball since his debut. He's come back from Tommy John and he's essentially the same pitcher.

You absolutely could. There's no doubt Dickey was remarkable last night and had no-hit or perfect game type stuff working.
