A friend said Barry thinks Amare's return would be ok. It will work much the same as when he was teamed with Steve Nash. He said it would be better for the Knicks if Melo never returned.

No telling how Carmelo Anthony will impact Linsanity when All-Star returns to lineup to play with Jeremy Lin

It's now up to you, D'Antoni and Melo!

Jeremy Lin flies in face of conventional wisdom

I worry just like everybody about how willing Carmelo Anthony is to blend into this freshly free-flowing offense, but let's not pretend like there haven't been some iso possessions in all the wrong hands. We saw Steve Novak shooting turn-around fadeaways and Bill Walker and Jared Jeffries trying to create off the dribble last night. Lin can't create everything for everybody all of the time, and that's one of the many ways in which Melo can help. A good motto for the fully-staffed for the Knicks would be: "We don't always go iso, but when we do, we prefer that Carmelo Anthony go iso". Or something.

Please Don't Ruin Lin Story...Yet

I heard Dino Costa ripping Carmelo the other day. He kept saying that the Knicks should trade him for Dwight Howard. Why all the venom towards Melo in the Big Apple? Did he run over someone's cat? Last I knew, this was a team game, and the team executes the coach's game plan. The Knicks would be ass clowns to trade Carmelo now after all they gave up for him last year. It's on the coach to get all these new pieces to play together.

You see their record with Melo in the lineup since the trade? Not exactly what they were expecting.. its not all Melo's fault, but when you are the star...its your team. Just the way it is. When you shoot 40% from the floor and are a volume shooter, people will toss venom your way, especially in New York.

Is Melo following in the footsteps of McNabb as the antithesis of a media darling? What is it about SU super stars that brings the venom out?

We'll know Melo has had it when Kaiser starts sniping at him.

As a Knicks' fan, I'm slightly concerned about Melo's return as well. Not sure D'Antoni's system was ever right for Anthony. And now that Lincredible has saved D'Antoni's job, it will be up to Carmelo to adjust. But the media pundits are not giving Melo his due. He adjusted on the Olympic squad, so we know he can do it.

Should be an interesting storyline to follow.

Cheers,
Neil

I don't see why you can't run pick N roll with Lin/Amare and have Melo play as a spot up shooter and slasher off the pick N roll. One more great option that can even negate great help defense against that pick N roll. Sure it would mean less shots for melo but better shots for him, Lin and Amare. Plus when Lin sits and Davis runs the pffense you go run and gun and ISO's with Melo.

People who are saying they don't want Melo back are idiots.

The reason Melo was struggling is because no one else can create. With Lin, the defense has another focal point.

Just like Coach K realized...the best way to keep Melo happy and involved is to let him take shots. He gets grumpy and stops giving effort elsewhere when he's not scoring.. I think Lin will only help his game, and now that he is older and wiser, he won't mind a few less points per game, in order to win. He'll still get 24 rips at the hoop every night.

Which is why he got praised by Coach K and his teammates for not taking shots and focusing on defense???

Cheers,
Neil

If Melo is scoring...he's happy and stays involved in other aspects of the game. If not, he can become very disinterested on the other end.

As usual, the point I was making sailed right over you. You don't even realize that Melo subjugated his scoring in deference to James, Wade, and Kobe, do you?

Cheers,
Neil
