And pick them to be the first 1 to lose to a 16? I did. My rationale was that I think they will lose to Pittsburgh anyway, so making the upset pick does not hurt me too much if I think Gonzaga will go down in the next round regardless. However, if it is the right pick it looks mighty fine on the bracket printout. I took the plunge of picking a 16 over a 1!

I took them to win the national title back in early January at 40-1. Not my favourite to win the title as of today, but its great odds.

They will have a battle in the second round against Wichita St. Like all 1 seeds this year they will be tested in round 2. In prior years there was the odd 1-8 or 1-9 upset, but many games were not competitive. I expect high level of competition this year,

Pitt isn't winning anything in March...much less April. Never have,

There are alot of talented teams in the 8/9 spot == UNC, Missouri, NC St.

and pitt. no way are they an 8 seed. they beat gtown on the road by 28 !!

If the refs let Pitt play Pitt will more than likely win by over 10, if it's called a close game its a toss up, whoever wins, will win by no more than 5 points.

I'll include Pitt (I was highlighting talented teams -- Pitt probably has less talent, but they are also a better team than all of them) They are also gaggers.

theyre gaggers when they get a top seed. as a 8 seed they gotta be terrifying for a 1 seed

Maybe the players will want to "Win one for Dixon!", before he heads for the West Coast.

In my "oddball" bracket (where I used the dog, my nephew, blindfolded, etc) I have Gonzaga winning the NC over Illinois...lol. That same bracket has the Griz going to the Sweet 16, and is the only bracket where I "picked" the Griz to beat Syracuse. If the Griz make the Sweet 16, I'll make sure our dog gets a new doghouse. :)

Hell yeah, man. I've been calling that one for weeks.

Wow. Not a bad call. They could do it. I have Pitt though going to the E8 and losing to OSU. Wouldn't surprise me if the Zags come through for you.

When people talk about how undeserving Gonzaga is, I think about St Joes in 2004.

Gonzaga is not losing to Pitt. They are a much better team. Also, it's Pitt.

Undeserving of a #1 is different than being capable of winning it all imo. I personally don't think you can lose to Illinois at home by 11 if you're in such a weak conference. I know they won @Ok St but nobody else can get a 1 with that as their best win by far.

Illinois beat Indiana.

That bracket is one of the easier ones in my opinion. OSU over Gonzaga for the FF spot, easy peasy. Other brackest are not as easy for me; Duke, Louisville, MSU in the MW? NC, Kansas, GU or Mich in the South? Miami, IU or SU in the East?

I had the Zags out first, I have a rule of thumb that doesn't allow me to bring them past the sweet 16 EVER. But then I broke all the tournament teams down into statistical categories and put it on an Excel spread sheet (Which too ***ing FOREVER) and Gonzaga and Indiana put up some scary numbers. Why does everyone think they will be the first out?

You can if that's one of two losses.

That St. Joe's team lost in the Elite 8 to OK St. in a very good game. They proved they belonged. I love that St. Joe's beat Wake in the sweet 16, the alma matter of Billy Packer, who was St. Joe's most outspoken critic.
