I just think it could have been intentional on his part because it seemed like he was talking about those teams making the league great in it's glory days over the years.

I don't know, but Saunders might be the dullest PBP guy there is. He turned a ho-hum game into an absolute snoozer.
I always liked him OK in the studio, but I don't think PBP is his thing at all.
