Sure, the Big East was on life support well before last night, but I think we just watched Syracuse walk into the hospital room with a pillow and smother the patient.
Last night we snuffed out the one remaining Big East school that any chance of providing the league with a high BCS rating. Not exactly helpful when trying to hang on to a BCS bid. Why would any borderline school come to the big east, with it's $10,000,000 exit fee, for the chance at an automatic BCS bid when all signs point to it being lost in the near future? Schools like Boise State would be better off in their current conferences as top dog being a focal point of a national debate year after year, increasing their public exposure?
