Great explanation by the league commissioner.

"This probably happens more than we realize," Waters said. "Coaches are on the court, too. If the official had stopped it then it upsets the flow of the final seconds of the game. But we wish it wouldn't have happened."

What? We really would like it if teams played five on five, but heck, if a couple extra guys get out there, we shoudn't just whistle the play dead because it disrupts the game flow!

Hey, now, don't be bashing the South. They have enough problems.

They might fire refs who let six players on the floor, but just give Higgins (it was Higgins, wasn't it?) a slap for running out of MSG before the game was over?

The whole episode was uncalled for really. You know damn well the the BF Stand-in keeping stats next to JB would have caught it. That's part of his job. One assistant is usually assigned those menial tasks of keeping track of fouls, TO's, players on the court, etc. I know a coach in my son's rec league who keeps track of everything the OTHER team does, fouls, etc.

Felt sorry for the WKU coach that got canned over the whole thing, all because he didn't make a scene of carnage on the court and skewer the refs.
