Pasqualoni and Deleone were great coaches that brought HOFers and top talent to Syracuse and won with them. Great recruiters, great talent analysts, and great coaches. That said, there is an aging, weird strain of [B][I]very-online [/I][/B]Syracuse fans that will quite literally die before they accept the situation for what it was, and will continue to denigrate them. Weird. [B]Firing Coach P (in a season where the team won the conference and went to a bowl game) was a catastrophic decision for Syracuse and their fans. [/B] You'd have to be misinformed or worse to think otherwise. We all know the answers, we all know what happened. The conference was weakening as the ACC had poached the Big East that season, and so we were poised to rebound. We had Ray Rice and Courtney Greene committed to come play for us, but we lost them when we lost P and D. Raymell Rice wearing 44 would have been sensational at Cuse... people don't realize what a loss that was- he was a phenom. We also lost 20 years of continuity, and the program has never been the same since. (I am posting this additional information for younger fans or less-informed fans, because the dishonest version of the story that trolls like to present - where P and D "needed to go" - is completely weird and inaccurate.)
