Dino's Game 10 Press Conference for Louisville: 11 AM

Babers on the Week 10 bye: "I wish it wouldn't have been as late as it was, but now that it's been here and it's gone, I'm glad that it came." He said he believes in players getting a mental break from the rigors of the season, too.

Babers said he gave Sean Tucker a "gentle reminder" to keep up his focus, attention to detail down the stretch of the season: "Sean knows what to do. It's just making sure that he stays locked in, and very seldom is he not."

Babers on NIL benefitting players more at certain positions based on role: "Don't be afraid to share the wealth and let other guys know how much you appreciate them."

Babers said CB Garrett Williams made a "gallant effort" to come back before the BC game, but implies that SU didn't play him until the program was confident he wasn't at risk for reinjury. "We're going to always protect those guys."

Babers on Louisville QB Malik Cunningham: "I think Malik is unique. I haven't seen anybody catch him. ... Malik is so fast, guys. How did they go from Lamar to Malik? ... I mean, that guy is fast. I think he's one of the most dynamic guys in the league."

Babers on Garrett Shrader: "He looks like Grizzly Adams, and you don't even know who Grizzly Adams is. ... A good ol' country boy. I think that's kind of his personality. He cares, but he doesn't. He cares about his body, but he doesn't. He cares about winning."

Babers said that everyone has a role in play-calling. Said he's "always had a little distaste" for dominating voices in those processes, wants to give coaches and players a chance to chime in.

Babers said that OL Carlos Vettorello and WR/PR/KR Trebor Pena are likely done for the year. Declines to share an update on FB/TE Chris Elmore. Babers said before the bye that he expected OL Darius Tisdale to return before the end of the season, but no follow-up yet today.

Babers said he thinks Liberty's Malik Willis and Louisville's Malik Cunningham are very different QBs. Willis can sling it at an NFL level and Cunningham is much, much faster. So, there isn't much value in having played the former while prepping for the latter.

Cunningham is dinged up. Unless he's pumped full of painkillers, he's not gonna be quite so fast this weekend.

We've had a pretty good history against dinged up QB's.
Let's hope that trend continues this weekend.

Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if he was moving around like Kelly Bryant in 2017.

Was dinged up playing Clemson and still rushed for like 150 yards. His running is a big concern but I am more worried about him rolling out and burning us with intermediate passes.

In past years, countless times we have let the UL QBs get outside the pocket on those naked reverses so they can run 3 on 2 RPO and make the LB decide whether to cover the receiver or take the QB.

That has improved quite a bit since Tony took over. This will be a good test for the defense and how much they have improved.

We have to hit him hard but legally. Make him think about protecting that ankle. He may be less apt to take off running.
