My two cents on this:

1. I think the SSB is an out-dated anthem of war and should be replaced by America The Beautiful to begin with as the NA.

2. I am not sure why there is a need for the national anthem to be played before sporting events.

3. Notwithstanding points 1 & 2 above, the NA should be respected whenever it is played. As many issues as we have in this country - where would any one of us rather live ? If anybody answers a country other than USA, one of the beauties of our society is that you should and would have the right to go there.

4. Dion - some have speculated he had a hissy fit because he wasn't starting. Others have speculated he was in the locker room praying. Some say he intended disrespect to the flag. My two cents is that whatever the reason he did in fact disrespect to our flag, but couldn't stand the heat and backed off. If Dion would just come out, state the REAL reason for his action, and then apologize and admit he was wrong, I would have no problem having that be the end of the controversy. But to me, what he is doing now just shows a lack of backbone in whatever issue or conviction he had in not coming out in the first place.
