Nice spark off the bench hes been ala my boy Dion last season. He's playing with confidence showing a nice midrange game to go along with his deep threat ability. Hitting the boards, scoring in transition, to go along with improved ball skills, hes gonna be huge this year.

I've been lukewarm about Southerland's game since he was a freshman. You could see some potential, but he never seemed to perform consistently.

So far this year I'm really impressed with the way he's playing. I agree if he has improved as much as it looks, he might be a big surprise. He's playing great.

Moqui might be right after all?

I called him as the break-out star for this year. So far, so good. If he plays well, we will have a great team this year.

It's like the game starts...James downs 3 or 4 pixie sticks and then gets sent in a supplies a lot of energy.

If he can keep that relaxed pace on his shot he should be fine. It seems in years past when he misses a couple he starts to rush into his shot with his lower half. I really love the variety of ways he has scored this season and his improved ball skills.

I agree and with better ball movement and inside game (I hope!) it'll open him up as long as he continues to slide to the correct open spaces.

I think knowing he is going to play has also helped. When he missed a few shots before he was concerned he was going to be pulled now he doesn't have that concern.

A classic late bloomer that staff ID'd when no one else was interested. He could be responsible for our success this year and he could be in the NBA next year if he keeps this up. In JB we trust.

Yup. Gone is that deer in the headlights look. I think we get the real James this year and that it will be very enjoyable. I expect a few clunkers out of him but I also think we'll see several 20-25 point games. It wouldn't surprise me to see
him average 15-16.

JS gets it this year. So far, really is maturing into an all-around basketball player, not just a 3-pt specialist. Great for team success this year.

With his length that high release point and that funky little runner that is is making consistently now he will be able to get his shot off against anyone.

interestingly enough this team outside of james being a 3/4 vs a combo like dion- has a lot of the same character as last year. brandon/mcw run things, cj is cj and we get a mixed bag of offense and good defense from the 5 spot. Should rak and dc2 become consistant threats to score in the post.. we could be scary good.. in the meantime we need james to be on fire to help this group find their sealegs as competition gets tougher.

I sure hope that all of these pro-JSouth posts come true. Call me a skeptic, but we've seen this out of him every year in the cupcake section of the schedule. Starting with Arkansas, we should have a better feel for what's going to happen.
