Just because Michigan played Purdue tough and beat an overrated IU team, doesn't mean they have played a tougher schedule than SU or Pitt... SU played and WON at Duke, beat A&M, beat NCSU and finished .500 in the conference. Who did Michigan beat other than IU??? Maryland??? They are in the toilet!!!

If you want a good laugh, check out there schedule, and look at who 12 of their wins are against. Teams like Rutgers, Houston Baptist, Bryant, etc.

Vitale actually said that? What a crock of ...

Which is better: 5-6 vs. the Top 50 or 4-10. Hmmm...

Vitale truly doesn't know all that much. He's just talking. He'll go on some more half-informed(at best) rants after the selections are made, like he does every single year.

Just last week we "hung tough" with likely #1 seed UNC at Chapel Hill. Had a chance to tie/take the lead with 30 seconds left.

We "hung tough" against Pitt.

We "hung tough" at UVa.

We "hugh tough" at Miami.

Worst loss on our schedule was by 14. We lost a bunch of games by under 5.

Just call us New Kids on the Block, because we're the kings of "Hangin' Tough" - LMAO

15 points lead with 2 mins to play, not too tough.

Muck Fichigan if beating an overrated Indiana squad makes up for a crappy regular season.
We have the better resume if you are objective.
Let the 2 teams settle on the floor in Dayton.

You left out ND. SU finished 10th in a 15 team league. Pretty bad. BUT they were 500, and only lost 1 game to teams finishing below them and beat 2 teams finishing above them. The Clemson lost at home was a killer. Would have moved them up 2 spots with a 10-8 conference record.

I'd argue the ACC is a far superior league from top to bottom against any other conference. The BiG might be second, but the Big12 is in that argument. Adding the win over A&M to the mix, definitely gives SU the significant advantage, IMO...

Conference schedules aren't balanced the committee looks at that stuff.

Syracuse played the 1 seed 2 times and 15 seed 2 times. Played at the 2 seed Virginia, played at the 3 seed Miami, played at the 3 seed Louisville.
Hosted the 5 seed Notre Dame, and played at the 6 seed Duke.

Our conference schedule was way more difficult than these other teams. We hosted 2 of the top 6 and played at 5 of the top 6 and finished 9-9.

Someone on ESPN said earlier today that Michigan deserved to be in because Levert is out and they're still playing tough. Uhhhh, injured player doesn't get you bonus points.....Maybe Laphonso Laughsalot said it?

Recency bias is at it's strongest during the conference tournaments. We hear stuff like this every year

sometimes the committee buys into it. see SU 2006.

SU beat A&M who is killing DSPN's heralded NBA ALL-STAR, MVP & future H.O.'er, Simmons... and Michigan gets credit for hanging tough w Purdue???

Hey, don't be so quick to discount to draw of hangin tough!
