What's Happened: ACC still the dominant conference
Takeaway: The preseason Cascade/Maverik Media Poll saw all five ACC schools in the Top 10. At the midseason point, all five are in the top seven. The ACC went 34-3 against non-conference foes. The three losses were to teams (Denver, twice, and Maryland) that are both in the current top 10. This league is simply the best from top to bottom in the world of college lacrosse. So who wins the tourney and the AQ that goes with it? Virginia can score with the best of them but has injury issues and defensive shortcomings. North Carolina and Duke simply try to outscore opponents. Syracuse and Notre Dame have the most balance and can beat teams in a variety of ways. No one wants to be that No. 5 seed come ACC Tournament time. It is sure to be a memorable couple of weeks to come as these teams slug it out for league supremacy.
