[B]Takeaway:[/B] Unlike last season when Notre Dame was on the NCAA bubble heading into PPL Park and the Carolina-UVa showcase would determine hosting or travelling in the first round, there was a bit less drama in terms of NCAA positioning. That doesn’t mean the play and competition didn’t shine. Friday was revenge night as Duke beat Notre Dame 13-8 and the Orange topped North Carolina 9-8. The results in the regular season were reversed. Sunday’s title tilt would be another great game but Syracuse would buck the revenge trend with a 15-14 decision over Duke. Since the ACC expanded to (six teams in ’14, five in ’15) five of the six ACC Tournament games have been decided by one goal, a testament to the balance in this premier league. I appreciated how the Orange won these games. Friday goaltending and defense carried the night, while on Sunday the potent Orange O pulled this one through.
