With three top middies (Joel Tinney, Connor Reed, and Alex Concannon) not available to play in 2016 it was time for this core to step up and make plays. They did just that. That never happened as Syracuse got sloppy, committing costly turnovers and getting too aggressive on defense. Face-off man Ben Williams was exceptional throughout but got two early violations on the third period that altered his approach. His third violation led to a Hopkins EMO late in the game. Syracuse would not see the ball again as Hopkins tied the game and won the next two face-offs. But Williams was dominant early and gave his team a chance to put Hopkins away. The offense did not take capitalize as they had in previous wins. As a result, Syracuse let one get away from them on the road.
