DT -  The battle here is between Sloan, Jones, Wells, and Raymon, 4 guys for 2 slots in 2nd half of the rotation.   If 2 don't emerge, Goggins or Welsh can move back inside.     Crume was running down the line like a linebacker yesterday.   Crume and Bromley might be the most explosive pair of interior linemen at this program that I have seen.
 
At DE, assuming Goggins stays there is a legit three deep.   Simmons was running with the third unit yesterday and Welsh has been playing well.    The battle here isn't in finding bodies and what happens if the starter is hurt or needs a rest.   This is going to be huge in 4th quarters and the last 1/3 of the season.
 
My guess is that Goggins, Crume, and Bromley are locked in as starters.  The battle here is between Sharpe, Pierce-Brewster, and Robinson to see who starts at DE, but they all will play a lot of snaps.
 
There isn't the superstar player, but Shafer has a good number of legit pieces to mix and match.  That couldn't be said the previous three seasons.
