to not give the number to Rob Washington the #44? McNabb should keep is mouth shut about anything to do with Syracuse football. Number "5" isn't retired. He should go out with his buddy Vick and discuss new ways totter and kill dogs. I don't care if they were friends before this was revealed about Vivk. I have very good friends who if they did unearthing like this, would no longer have the privilege of speaking to me as friend. That was a "set-up for all of you. Have fun.

The rumor is that, yes, they do have the cajones. The question is, what will they do with them? Stay tuned.

So, we should not get the best recruit in the last 30 years because some people who don't live and die with the program the way we do, think we shouldn't take out of retirement a number that should never have been retired.

Sometimes the best thing to do with big cajoles is stuff them in your mouth and not say anything else. Case in point with 44 returning. It's great that it's back. Everything else is gravy.

Washington said he does not want it handed to him...he thinks it needs to be earned.

18 year old recruits don't get to make those decisions. If offered he can accept or decline. That is the extent of his input.

I don't recall hearing from any source that he was going to be automatically anointed with it. Washington himself said the number had to be earned.

I agree with that but he has been recruited based on his accomplishments. I believe that is the point here. ?Don't you? The fan base is excited and relieved at the news. Its clear to see the reaction. Why deflate the enthusiasm?

Let's see how he does in camp next summer...

If he's a beast on the field, a gentleman off the field and a good teammate then I have no problem with him wearing 44 from the get go. That's how it went down during my time on the hill...

We have our own version of deflategate???

This news was covered nationally. It would further damage the reputation of the school beyond the cheating aspect with Gross and BoeheimRob Washington is fully expecting to be given this honor based on a lot of media proclamation of fans and articles/posts. No its not his decision but you can see whhy he might "assume this. No ass-u me. cliches necessary.

Really? huh?. OK maybe it didn't make the CNN "Breaking News list but it was used fillers and you can be sure it made Washington's home town papers.

I am enthusiastic about it. So is Washington.

Love you, Cali. Rock on.

"Deflte enthusiasm "? Its almost as cliche with Syracuse University A great basketball recruiting class is coupled with an Effn NCAA cloud for cheating Gross is beheaded and Boeheim is acclaimed. I believe that rather than the three year retirement mandate its two which I concur with a great deal I want to see Mike Hopkins in charge of the team He and his young assistants out there for recruiting could be very interesting for us the fans.As for #44 I think there could be a severe backlash at the "officials that don't fulfill the putting the jersey back on the field. No more for now on this subject.

Cali,
In the big scheme of things in life, this isn't a big deal. It made the sports wire, but most sports fans do not give 2 cents about this. We as Syracuse fans may have an opinion, but really, who else cares?

The University has stated that the number will be used for special circumstances. It will take a truly special talent and person to be given the number. That said, if it turns out to be Mr. Washington, great. If not, in time somebody else will wear it. Let's wait and see who fits the criteria that SU has set and receives the honor to wear it.

As far as your ramble about Cuse basketball, we do have a board for that.
