Here is another way for Syracuse fans to see the same point from a vantage than rings home more closely. Facilities are key to sustained recruiting. You can win big for a couple of years, but if your facilities fall into nothing, you will lose the ability to recruit consistently.

If Syracuse were to defeat FSU, you can bet the old time SU cheapskates will tell themselves that the W over the Noles is proof that there is no need to upgrade anything that costs real money. You would have earned a Pyrrhic victory.

5 and 4* talent from FL and GA, or even from OH, is not going to flock to upstate NY with no improved facilities just because you upset a #2 team. Those recruits want to see investment in the program in the way of facilities.
