I forget whom it was during the half, but he said, "Syracuse is #1, but UNC is the best team", and later said he expected them to win the championship because of their NBA front line and guard. I haven't seen them play this year, so I am curious what others think about this.

Cuse, Kentucky, OSU, and UNC have distanced themselves from everybody else. Carolina cutting down the nets shouldn't surprise anybody if it were to happen.

Well both UK and UNC have a lot more talent than us, probably looking at 4 future NBA players on each team. We play a unique defense which should theoretically give them trouble. So who knows.

UK losing early is understanble since their whole team is basically freshmen. UNC is much more experienced and them losing with all that talent early is not excusable, no idea where he gets "best" team from.

I don't necessarily agree with him, but he also didn't make a case to argue it. He said UNC is long, plays good defense, and has potential NBA players. Not very compelling.

You win championships at this level with guard play

I wouldn't say that UK or UNC or anyone else has "a lot" more talent than us- we're pretty talented.

IMO, UNC won't win it. Their front line is shockingly soft for a group of NBA prospects, and they're not consistent enough defensively. Still a great, talented team that will be near the top all year of course.

He also said Henson is the most dominant shot blocker in the country (LOL)

UNC is tough - I think the names on their roster screams championship more than their play thus far (if that makes sense).

Objectively, there is no question that UNC and Kentucky have better talent than SU, so does OSU. Vegas odds also do not favor SU to win the NC. They are generally not even in the top 4, per Vegas odds.

SU just needs to continue to get better and play well and not worry about anything else.

Getting #1 seed will be VERY VERY important for us this year. It's basically UNC, UK, OSU, 'Cuse and everyone else. The more chances for the other 3 to go down early the better Vegas odds we get ;)

Sully drives OSU -- as good as he is and as good as he could be in the NBA, Centers don't carry NCAA teams to championships... It's a guard and small forward driven tournament.

Agreed. But Buford and Thomas are studs and Aaron Craft is a perfect PG for that team, and a damn good one overall.

will be interesting to see if Melo can hold Sully to 12 pts and 10 bds while contibuting 4 blocks, 6 points and 8 boards...if that happens, we are beating OSU by 7 or more...I do not see UNC as the best team...I think we beat them by 6 or more...it will be KY that concerns me...but with our defense...we just may carry the day

And OSU has guys like Buford and Thomas who could shoot over our zone. Throw in a dominant inside guy in Sully and a steady ball handler in Craft and you have the makings of a championship team.

Ohio State sucks shooting the ball. They really miss Diebler--the dropoff in their shooting from last year to this year has been palpable.

uk has more talent than any.. unc has kids with talent but on par with us. barnes is more wea johnson than anything.. henson is still a tweener with his lack of bulk.. his j is weak.. much more blatche than garnett.. zeller is a good college big and thats it the rest .. marshall is a future nba benchwarmer .. ala jason hart .. buford is the real talent on osu .. he is the 2nd coming of rip hamilton. sully is a tweener.. will struggle. we have as much talent as any imo with lots of room to improve

I think you replied to the wrong thread. This is the self depricating one where we talk about teams that are "better" than us.

UNC and UK have some sick talent, but so do we...and no, OSU is not more talented than us.

Agree 100%. Kentucky has a ton of talent, but out of those three teams, they're the team I'd like to face in the NCAA tournament the most--because I don't think that their frosh would execute well against the zone.

I [unfortunately] watch a lot of OSU, since my wife is an alum. No doubt, they are good. But more talent than us? I don't see it. Sullinger is a great college player, and Craft is a very good college point guard. Buford is a good scorer. But I like our team a lot better than theirs, and I think we'd match up with them just fine.

UNC is the team that would make me the most nervous out of that group, given their size / rebounding.

Thomas has been really big for them. He's had a Fab/Waiters-like transformation in his game. Buford and Sully will collect a NBA paycheck. Craft is very solid. Very good team.

Just looked them up, their 3 point % has gone from 42.3 (first in the country) to 33.2, outside the top 200. 2 pointers they are still in the top 5 in the country. They had a great run of awesome shooting, with Diebler around. Still in the top 30 in effective FG%, but they aren't as good as they have been.

IMO Robinson of Kansas is more impressive than Sullinger as an undersized big man. UNC does have the softest quote, unquote NBA frontline I've ever seen.
