Really needed a thread like this right now. Love all the stories and pics people have shared! I attended the SU-Philly alumni club watch party for SU-Texas. It was a blast. But I decided to drive to Syracuse for the Dome game watch vs. Kansas. As Monday unfolded, I had second thoughts. It was getting snowy and icy. A four-hour drive in that mess suddenly seemed like a lot. I told my wife I might change my plans. She cares nothing about sports. To this day, she has never understood my fanaticism for Syracuse. Nonetheless, in this instance, she brushed aside my hesitation and implored me to go. Said if SU won, I would always regret not being on campus for it. I went and she even came with me. One of the best decisions of my life -- prompted by a very unlikely source. We went to Dome watch with an old SU friend of mine and his wife. As others mentioned, it was simply amazing. Moments after the win, I told my friend I always felt the ghost of Keith Smart. Now I felt it fly out of me like a screaming demon. A teen in front of me (did not live "the shot" but was familiar) remarked to me that hearing about my exorcised pain made him appreciate the joy he was feeling even more. We watched all the post-game coverage through "One Shining Moment" then went to Marshall Street. The craziness had waned a little by then but there was still a lot of people and small fires of random debris burning in the middle of the street. As a student, I missed the '87 run by one semester. Not my fault, but it left a hole in me. Being on M-Street at that moment filled it in -- not completely, but just about. We stayed overnight with my friend. Came back to campus the next morning to get lunch, then shop the bookstore. It was eerie how quiet and normal-looking M-Street looked just 10 hours or so after the celebration. Hardly anyone around. No trash anywhere. A visitor passing through town would never have thought anything unusual happened the night before. There was plenty of people at the bookstore though. It was surreal seeing "Syracuse National Champions" merch as far as the eye could see.
