However, it is interesting to look at the costs and how times have changed since its construction.  Carrier's donation amounted to just less than 10% of the initial costs for the building.  Plugging that into a inflation calculator, their gift is now comparable to about $9 million dollars.  The $29 million figure for total construction now amounts to about $100 million.

$100 million is not going to come anywhere near the total costs in these present times.  I remember reading in the past how Carrier offered to install air conditioning, but the offer was rejected by the university on the grounds of costs for upkeep, operation, and how often it would actually be used.  The cost benefit was not there, even with the equipment donated.
