In today's paper (missed it, Tomcat), Donna Ditota has a story about McCullough and concerns about his motor. One thing you can see from his film is that he is a very fluid athlete. Sometimes a player who is super smooth can look like he's not trying that hard, like Darryl Strawberry (pre-cocaine abuse). As a young player, people questioned his intensity, his commitment. But part of that was just because when he ran, he kind of glided, with those long fluid strides. McCullough has a bit of that in him as an athlete, in my opinion.

Agreed. Robbie Cano is another example. It often looks like he's lollygagging, but that's just how the game comes to him. Not everything is rush-rush-rush.

I'm not even going to read the article (no offense) because I'd rather reserve judgment until I see him play in orange. It's more fun that way to me. I just hope that if he is one of those super-smooth, less rambunctious players our fans will recognize that and accept it. Either way, very excited to see what he can do.

If anyone has motivation to work hard, it's this kid. He wants to get his family out of the Bronx, and who can blame him? The only way for him to do that is to make it to the next level.

Plus, no one is going to dog it under JB and his staff. That's just not happening.

We've had a lot of big personalities in recent years (Jonny, Dion, Scoop, Kris Joseph, MCW). Last year's team seemed a lot more reserved and this year's team might be even more introverted. Should be interesting to see if anyone steps up to be a vocal leader. Maybe Rak?

Sorry, but as a Yankees fan, I disagree with this wholeheartedly. Robinson Cano dogs it all the time. He never busts it to first base. Period.

I never questioned Cano's talent or results. He certainly put up big numbers on a consistent basis.

Baseball is much different though, basketball you need that motor running constantly, in baseball its more relaxed. Cano is still a great player, him dogging it to first every now and then doesn't take away from his stats.

I think it will be Joseph without a doubt.

Well if McCullough doesn't see what everyone sees, but JB sees it, and JB benches him for it, we could have a problem.

Would still rather Pedroia than Cano.

McCullough will wake up, I'm not worried.

Funny post. Cheriehoop and I met both Chris McCullough and Kaleb Joseph this week. Kaleb was "Mr Personality." Very outgoing, lots of hugs, big smile. Chris was very laid back. Very pleasant and polite, but very laid back. Cher and I both fell in love with Kaleb whose personality is like Scoop's or Baye's. Chris seemed more like Kris or CJ. Nothing wrong with either type of personality. .

Hey cto, Joseph spells his name Kaleb...just an FYI. It's not the typical spelling but that's how he spells it.

Yeah, I know that. I spelled it correctly on Facebook where I posted a picture of me with them (and corrected it here). Sometimes my fingers are not connected to my brain.

CTO is a very good typist.

In the same sense that Rain Man was a very good driver. LOL

If he has problems with his motor then JB will put him in the garage until he's running the way he was intended too. Most players that come in as freshmen find that garage quite uncomfortable.

I think McCullough will be terrific. He will get lots of playing time and will mature very quickly. I think he's going to make the absolute most of his opportunity.

But in sports, it only takes a couple of instances for a player to become tagged with a label. Not running out a ground ball is one of them, especially if you get called on it by a teammate or coach.

That is one thing that drives me bonkers when I see it. I would love to be able to play baseball for a living and these guys can't run hard 4 times a night for 90 feet?? - That being said, Cano is on my fantasy team and doing great so not a hater of him :)
