Donnie Freeman transferring to St Johns

This man is trying to drive down the cost of Donnie from some team.
He’s not wrong, there are red flags despite the fact that he has an incredibly high ceiling. It would not be taking this long if it was so simple. It’s tempting for a lot of big money programs, but your floor could be scary if you don’t build around it correctly and it doesn’t work out.

Would think that any interested program would have done their own deep vetting before getting into a bidding war. If not and they need this Kyle Tucker guy to “warn” them, they deserve getting screwed.

I know Pitino is a bit of an old school hard ass, but I've never gotten the sense that he wasn't a players coach. Like you can yell at players and they can still love you. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. Tom Izzo is that way.
I always got the feeling that izzo was tough on his kids but loved them and would do anything for them. I think rick just loves himself lol.

The guy was still our leading scorer, and it wasn't very close. Isn't it fair to say, if we're saying our best win was without him that it's also possible that we would have lost more games without him? Some of the losses would have been bigger losses without his big numbers?

I try not to rip the players, so maybe i'm not 100% objective, but i hate seeing this guy get so much scorn and wrath. The "he quit" thing, "not a winning player" thing... 'no heart...' No one knows what was in his head or heart, or what he was dealing with. How many times have we seen a player have a down/disappointing year, and then the season ends and we find out he was playing at 75% and needs surgery? He was playing through injury, trying to game it out... We don't know.

I trust that he was in the games, and if he was on the floor, he was trying. As i have said plenty of times before, when a battle is lost, you don't blame the soldiers, you look at the Generals. He was in a bad system and collectively, the team crashed.

I think his point is our guys have mostly landed at other P5 programs whereas all of our new guys are coming from lower levels.
Other teams are getting players that were major parts of a below .500 record at the p5 level. We’re getting guys who have succeeded in lower levels.

Nothing is ever so black and white.

Yeah, I mean... it's pretty black and white though.

We need more talent. A lot more talent.

I get the skepticism of bringing in kids from low and mid majors, but I strongly suggest looking at what other schools are bringing in that were in the top 25 with a few exceptions. Iowa State, Houston, Nebraska, Wisconsin….I could go on.

What Louisville, Tennessee, Indiana, Texas and likely UK will do is really the exception. Those schools have the biggest budgets. Even Kansas signed a MM point guard and lost Bidunga in the portal.

Look at the coaches in your first group compared to your second ………. Maybe GMac is Sampson or TJO but seems unlikely

That's more than 25% of our budget. If we paid this, we'd be the Texas Rangers in the ARod era.

Without ARod's production.
I think that demonstrates we need more money.

As I said I stopped, I could go on. The boards hero Hodgson signed a point guard with a 3 to 2 A to TO ratio that shoots 30% for 3 over 4 years in the Mountain West and a lot of people here commented like it was the best signing ever.

Part of his way is showing the door to those who don't buy into the system.
I just don't see anyway Freeman lasts the season with Rick. His father and his injury problems are bound to get him kicked off the team before the end of the year.

Don’t get me started on Pate’s G league numbers either… another heralded BH add
