yeah and lousivulle turned it around immedaitely when they got a new coach in...this era of NCAABB is annoying in many ways...but a good thing I like about the current era is how quickly things can turn around.Kenny Payne also fits that description.
Remember when this used to be a Donnie Freeman injury thread …
He isn’t gonna play. But we’re gonna win anyway.Does anybody have any inside knowledge if Freeman is gonna be back for Tennessee?
The coach was asked about Freeman after the game. I don’t know if any of you caught this, but he gave very specific details on Bryce Zephyr’s injury, the timeframe for return (week) and the specifics of the injury.(hamstring)WHERE IS OUR GUY MATTHEW GUTIERREZ? Need someone to actually pressure Autry about the extent of this injury. Reporters/journalists are supposed to ask some tough questions. This tip toeing around everything now-a-days is garbage. Our best player is hurt in our most important season in years. Let’s hear about it.
No inside info; however, a person may allow others to discuss medical matters while another person may refuse to allow others to discuss medical matters. The injured person holds the right and has no requirement to share their medical condition with anyone. The coach was asked about Freeman after the game. He was asked about Freeman, he gave no specific injury, he gave no timeframe for return other than day-to-day. So I’ll leave it up to you guys to determine. Why are there specifics for one guy and no specifics for another?
Keeping their job? The men and women on the BOTs already have day jobs and are already wealthy individuals. David Zaslav is the (divisive) president and CEO of WarnerBros Discovery. Mike Tirico is one of the most successful broadcasters in the business. And on and on. They don’t do this for a paycheck (maybe the prestige). So I’m not sure what you’re implying. The chancellor is already on his way out. He’s not making any decisions. The new chancellor is being hired now for next spring.
People should be watching that decision instead of JW. The new person may even be less invested in sports and take us even further down the path to irrelevance. JW is 67 and has had his run and will likely be on his way out soon.
The BoT seems invested in sports as in they talk a big game but also more invested in not sticking their neck and keeping their job.
someone mentioned last night on air tk99 pregame he was riding the bike.Donnie looked pretty good walking around by the bench.
I forget if it was last night or in Vegas. But I'm pretty sure after a big play by Cuse they showed the bench and you could see a teammate jumping on Donnie's back while celebrating. At the end of the game he was dancing around on the bench, makes me think it's not achilles related, he didn't look hobbled at all.
He needs to play before that if you want this team cohesive going into the conference schedule.Donnie essentially doesn't have to play until Clemson. Will be telling to see what his status is and if plays prior to 12/31.
He also didn’t have a GM to evaluate prospects and understand the market forces. This all goes on while games are still being played. There were at least two prime prospects for last year’s team that agreed to terms with Syracuse then came back for more once they received other offers. Red put together a reasonable budget, that budget was funded and then found that the estimate was sorely insufficient. That situation was remedied by bringing in Kline.Yup. We didn’t have enough NIL season before last because Red wasn’t prepared to fundraise for the necessary amount. Lots of people have confirmed this. He thought we were fine, and the staff didn’t do nearly enough homework to determine differently during the 2023-24 season.
I mean, while Red’s staff was flailing at NIL, the guy down the hall coaching the other revenue sport loaded up enough $$$ to sign several premiere players.
Yes, not having the appropriate staff to evaluate talent was on Autry. That’s part of his job and he failed at it. It’s also his job to fundraise and be able to cover financial needs. He didn’t do that adequately as well.He also didn’t have a GM to evaluate prospects and understand the market forces. This all goes on while games are still being played. I don’t know if Autry does or does not have the acumen to be a successful coach at this level, but this is the first of his three years that he has a roster capable of playing the system he wants to implement and invested in doing so. Let’s let it play out. Too many good things happening now to get lost in negativity.
Actually on Wildhack if money wasn’t there to invest in the basketball staff the way they invested in the football staff. And SU was far from the last program to hire a GM. Might have even identified Kline but couldn’t bring him on until he completed his responsibilities with the Knicks. If you want cast blame for someone not fully understanding the exact details and requirements of the crazy dynamics last year I won’t argue. I’m just willing to write it off as a transition cost and reserve judgement until we see how this year transpires.Yes, not having the appropriate staff to evaluate talent was on Autry. It happens. And it seems to be remedied. But it was his responsibility and he didn’t fulfill it.
I hope we keep winning and make the tourney this year.
By many, many accounts Autry was disinterested in fundraising and did the bare minimum. That’s on him, not JW. Fran doesn’t outsource fundraising to JW, he shakes the tree himself. Donnie will be back before ACC play
So it has to be obvious to be revealed? We're not talking about a test for a disease here, or if someone needs a triple bypass or chemo to remain on this planet. We're talking about a ligament or tendon that effects their ability to play a kid's game.Well i think that was pretty obvious watching it
I saw him playing soccer on the quad, was doing bicycle kicks. Good to go.9 days between games seems like an eternity.
Does the staff expect to ease Donnie back in during the rest of the cupcake slate? Might be really helpful to give him limited action 15 mpg or something and then he's ready to roll against Clemson on new year's eve.
