Shafer was more upset over losing his job at Syracuse University than I have ever observed in all my years. He could not even address the team or the press after the BC game. He stayed in CNY even before he became HC because his family really liked it here.

Pasqualoni would have stayed forever if he could have.

Schwartzwalder could have been the Boston Patriots coach in the early 1960s but he stayed in Syracuse.

And, of course, Boeheim.

There are just too many examples to just dismiss the notion with a baseless generalization.

The Syracuse community is a nice place to raise a family - it is pretty - there are few traffic problems - schools are solid - there is plenty of culture and you can be a big fish in a small but sophisticated community.
