Behind the scenes though, with those he worked with, he wasn't that great. I was always taught that you can tell the measure of a man by the way he treats the people under him. Doug treated his subordinates pretty poorly. The problem with that is he put in pretty much no effort into being the sports director at channel 9, and his subordinates did almost all the work. I don't fault him for it, you'd just like to see a boss recognize and appreciate the folks who make him look good on a daily basis. With that said, he did help me out on occasion with things, where I would never have expected him to help. He's an interesting dude, and definitely worthy of the honors he receives.
