If you looked objectively at our STs play this year it has been very inconsistent and has directly led to several losses.  I look at a football team as a civilian version of a military organization.  The Leader leds:  he appoints trusted subordinates to carry out his orders and they are assigned Football Versions of an Officer Rank/Duties.   His players are his soldiers at the tip of the spear.  I think Coach Marrone should be the Commander of the organization and he should assign his staff to execute the three phases (Offense, Defense and STs) of battle.  STs is our weakest unit and I think we need a new leader of STs.
 
Can he be a successful HC and STs Coordinator?  Sure but I haven't seen any evidence we will even get above middling right now.  Time for a change and give the ST duties to a new coaching hire or assign it to the most qualified existing coach.
 
In order for Syracuse to excel we need to manufacture points (like a VT, Rutgers or Cuse in the late 80s to late 90s) on STs to help us defeat some superior foes.  Rutgers has blocked more kicks in half a season than we have in a decade.  Rutgers is a very flawed team on offense but has been able to win games they shouldn't by using stout defense and STs to create points for them.
 
My dream fix would be to bring in someone that is a known expert in the area and also some ties to an area we recruit.
