Anyone catch the comments from Gross on the telecast regarding the Meadowlands game, he said it fulfilled all it's business goals and that Coach Marrone got some very good feedback from the target audience after the game. Obvious he was referring to the recruits, hope this means ogundeko. Dr. Gross is getting it done in my opinion

expect our Notre Dame games to be in the Meadowlands in our home game rotation with ND...

And also expect ND to have more fans. Also expect them to be able to use the game as a recruiting tool with those top end guys they take from us in the area. Also expect us to not have a loud home field advantage.

Genius move.

Anyone catch his comment about the football facility? Made it sound like it is already under construction. So what is it? Yes or no? Is TGD blowing more smoke or has it really started?

How about his comment after a missed Krautman FG down 7-10? "We'll just have to make it a 21-7 game" thought he was SB's AD there for a second.

it generally sounded like bullshit to me, a piss poor excuse for why that game was not in the dome. i see it as a huge missed opportunity. there is basically zero interest in this program.

I heard Marrone on WAER say that he heard some very positive feedback about recruits being impressed and interested in our program after the USC game.

Take it for what it's worth.

Was there a home-field advantage today?

I wonder what the recruits there thought of the atmosphere...

Today wasn't USC. That's the point.

There is not home field advantage with a half filled dome, the team definitely feels let down running out into the vast silver landscape.

The is NY's major College football team. Go to the freakin games

If Syr didnt agree to the ND series, they would have found another partner eventually. Besides, ND doesnt have to play in NJ to take the top northeast recruits away from SU.

That's nice. Everyone else already told them no. So we go get another good or very hood team to play in the Dome.

If Gross doesn't use the ACC-ND marriage to force ND to play us in the Dome he will lose my respect and my donations to the AD's office. Note I have season tickets and go to 1 or 2 games at most a year its a slap in the face and reeks of small time football to season ticket holders/fans to move marquee home games to neutral fields over five and half hours away from campus.

Nobody has replied yet, but I'd like to know the truth, so maybe people in the Manley area can reply. Knew we started the football facility?

Dumb people at RU and Yukon told them no...and look at them now.

Decisions can create unintended consequences and I wonder if Gross weighed in whether playing the big OOC games in the Meadowlands would depress Dome attendance. It will interesting to see if average attendance for "second tier" Dome games drops compared to average gate for similar games before the downstate series. There could be other explanations for a material drop -- e.g. further fan disenchantment with the product or more economic deterioration denying people money to go. Absent that, could it be that upset fans stay home because they are being served table scraps while downstate gets the main courses? Would that be spiteful or a logical reaction? It's hard to put a firm dollar value on fan reaction, but watching Dome attendance over a two to three period from this point forward might show a causation. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Dr. Gross is perhaps the best thing in SU Athletics right now, after Coach B. His critics need to get off their ass*s and do something the guy cannot do it by himself. Give him some bucks to pass out and he will have more than BS to distribute.
