Since 2000, there have been 56 road games. Dungey's passer rating against South Florida is the 9th best of those games. Nunes didn't have a road game better than that his last 3 years (not sure about his first year). Neither did Patterson.

I know we can't perpetually compare everything to the 2000s which were so bad in the passing department but for now, I still think it's interesting.

Not just interesting... Very telling... In his 3rd start as a true frosh, big reasons for optimism in regards to his future.

we've only played 1 road game but his passer rating in road games is 43rd in the country. it's encouraging to feel like that will be one of his worst games and it wasn't bad

Yeah - I re-watched to 26 min version of the USF game and came away encouraged about the offense.

- first Q was a mix of calling it safe and small drive killing mistakes by Dungey (reading the option wrong mostly)

- he had a couple of drops by WR (long one to Estime) that were on the money and a few where either he or the WR read the D differently and were on different pages

- he's really accurate on the move and his ability to see who is open and then deliver the ball quickly is really really encouraging

I think he'll win a game or two where he outplays the other QB

The biggest problem that I had with the whole game is that USF came in as a good team stopping the run. And yet we ran the ball seemingly all first half, and the majority of the carries came from people other than our best runner (Fredericks).

Just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me and still doesn't.

no confidence in defense + old fashioned time of possession emphasis + combined with no confidence in blocking + cubitism = goofy trickery

worth mentioning that illinois offense stinks.

also worth mentioning that they had a trick play interception in the 4th quarter on saturday

To your point (kind of) the one scoring drive in the first half we ran 12 times and passed 3 times. Fredericks was the primary runner, followed by Dungey and a 14yd run by Erv.

This was the ill-fated reverse to Hill drive. Should have gotten more than a FG.

Really? Only 56? Even at 5 a year that number's 70. That's surprising.
