I lazily found this DO article from April 18, 2002, but I seem to remember that at the start of the season there were other articles about him benching that much, running a sub 4.4 and weighing in at 250 or so.

Most reps to max calculators are dead on. 225 is a little more volatile due to the high # of reps. 70% of the time its within 10 lbs.

The stress of the combine can knock off a couple reps. Barring injury, if Freeney truly could bench 500? It would be a rather huge statistical anomaly.

Once you get past a dozen those start losing accuracy. Plus every human will start to hit a wall around 45 seconds. I guarantee you that Allan couldn’t have done that many. There is a reason why only one person has bested 50 reps.

I believe hes the best I've ever seen... if he was a qb he'd be regarded as one of the best ever. He played DE and almost single handedly got us 10 wins. Even Vick couldn't evade him. I'm 32... top players I've seen (all sports) in no order. McNabb, Freeney, Mike Powell, Carmelo ... and I think Mcnabb is 4th on that list. Mike Powell might be #1

While attending Syracuse at a then 255-pounds, Freeney was clocked at 4.40 second 40-yard dash and recorded 40-inch vertical jump. His 40-yard time remains among the fastest ever recorded for a defensive lineman.
