Dylan Donahue Named Senior CLASS Award Finalist

Syracuse redshirt senior attackman Dylan Donahue is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, which honors notable seniors who have achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Donahue is the sixth Syracuse men's lacrosse student-athlete to be named as a finalist for the award since 2007, joining Greg Rommel (2007), Mike Leveille (2008), Matt Abbott (2009), John Galloway (2011) and Kevin Rice (2015) in earning the honor.

Donahue, who's leading the Orange with 33 points on the season and is just a point shy of becoming Syracuse's 17th 200-point scorer in program history, has led Syracuse in goals each of the last-two seasons. He netted 50 goals last season, which serves as the seventh-most productive goal-scoring season in program history.

The Camillus, N.Y. native has also excelled in the classroom as well, earning ACC All-Academic accolades last season. Majoring in environmental engineering, Donahue has been selected to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in five semesters at SU and has been named to both the BIG EAST and ACC Honor Roll in his career as well.

He's also been a two-time captain at Syracuse, along with current teammate Tom Grimm. Only 25 players can claim that honor in the 100 years of Syracuse lacrosse.

Joining Donahue as Senior CLASS Award finalists are Carter Brown (Ohio State), Matt Dunn (Maryland), B.J. Grill (Marquette), Jack Kelly (Brown), Walker Kirby (Harvard), Dan Lomas (High Point), Joseph Radin (Marist), Pat Swanick (St. Joseph's) and Tyler White (Towson).

The finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 20 candidates announced earlier this month. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 9. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award recipient will be announced during the 2016 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championships in Philadelphia, May 28-30.

Donahue and the Orange will return to the Carrier Dome for the first time in three weeks on Saturday, when the team hosts No. 2 Notre Dame at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and will also serve as a celebration of the 100 years of Syracuse lacrosse, with nearly 200 former Syracuse lacrosse student-athletes participating in the halftime ceremony.
