Georgia Tech is targeting Josh Pastner of Memphis for its head-coaching vacancy, and [URL='http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/15159182/georgia-tech-yellow-jackets-target-memphis-tigers-josh-pastner-coaching-vacancy'][U]a deal could be done[/U][/URL] by the end of Friday, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.

Pastner has served as the Tigers’ head coach over the last seven seasons after succeeding John Calipari in 2009. During that time, he has accumulated a 167-73 record.

Memphis reached the NIT in Pastner’s first season and made the NCAA tournament in the next four. In 2013 and 2014, the program advanced to the round of 32.

The Tigers have missed the postseason each of the last two years, and this past season they finished 19-15. It was Pastner’s lowest single-season winning percentage as a head coach.

Partner, who is 38 years old, played at Arizona from 1996-2000, winning a national title in 1998. He was an assistant for the Wildcats from 2002-08 before spending one year on Calipari’s staff at Memphis.

Georgia Tech fired Brian Gregory last month after finishing 21-15 and lost in the NIT quarterfinals. The Yellow Jackets haven’t made the NCAA tournament since the 2009-10 season.
