First time this season he's seen aggregation like Villanova on defense and the boards... hopefully he'll learn from this. The Boehiem brothers had 2 rebounds between them and as Coach has said before... A DEAD MAN COULD OF GRABBED MORE.

I think the physical nature of the game impacted Jesse at the FT line. Think he was 50% from the line and he had 2 misses in one trip at a key time which hurt.

That said I think he is the best defensive player we have ever had at the 5. The amount of court he covers and shots he impacts is truly amazing. I shudder to think what this team would be like if he had entered the portal.

I was thinking the same thing. Jesse really had to work for everything he got last night and I think he really got tired and it impacted his free throws.

It's more than learning with Jesse. Jesse was abused underneath. He has so much potential, and gives us so much in many areas, but right now he doesn't have the strength to give him a complete game. He knows what he has to do but doesn't currently have the muscle to do it.

Realistically, Cole and Jesse are going to have to be our guys on the defensive boards. Jesse is going to have challenges against stronger inside opponents — not as much as Marek last year, but it will happen. Have to make up for it on offense.

Can’t criticize Jimmy too much after the game he had on offense.

Jesse is the key. Great improvement, and still lots of potential.
Great seeing the effort to get him touches last night.
His confidence appears to build every game, and think he'll get more physical and soon we won't see the ball knocked out of his hands.
Love seeing an SU center with presence out there, that has to be accounted for.

He does need to get stronger, but I also felt like the refs let Nova smack him around.

That doesn't help.

It doesn't help, but physical play is going to happen under the basket and more often than not the refs are going to let the big boys sort it out for themselves. Not saying it's right but a more physically developed player will be less affected by it.

The refs let physical play go in this game because Nova has a short rotation.

And Syracuse doesn't.
Jesse picks up ticky tack fouls all the time. This game, there were over the back, pushing shoving and that was allowed because it benefited Nova. It must have confused him.
