Anyone have any funny experiences with him? One time this year I asked him why he wasn't in his usual spot before and after games and his response was something like "I'm always here unless its spitting fire". Doesn't feel normal walking to the dome if I don't give him a dollar.

Eli was the lead singer for the band I was in senior year ('95)... for 2 gigs.

Great dude.

Eli has been plucking on that same guitar at the Dome or on M-Street for 30 years. The D.O. did a piece on him in the late 90's. I mentioned recently how ecstatic I was to find a cassette  he gave me with the songs M-Street Strut, Eli's Alleyway, and Anna Mae.

Elijah Harris is a great man.

"Stay in school..."

A couple of years ago, my son wanted to get a movement started to have Eli sing the national anthem in the Dome before a game.

Haha this is great glad to see there's more fans out there. One of my favorite sayings of his is "if you got a ticket, kick it".

Always have fun hanging out with Eli, great dude.

How many years has he been standing out there and does he attend games?

At least since 1992. That is all I can attest too, but I bet it's since the mid 80's.

We were back on campus for a friends wedding at Hendricks a while ago. The night before we were out at the bars and ran into him, we had always talked to him when we were in school so he happened to remember us. Anyways, we told him why were all together and when the wedding was. Needless to say he was standing outside the chapel after the wedding strumming his guitar. The bride and groom loved it, but the father of the bride not so much.

Wow that's awesome that takes some serious dedication!

You know he's raised 8 kids on the money drunken Syracuse students throw in his guitar case right?

I recall one night in the spring of '93 outside old Hungry Charley's (when Chuck's was only a nickname) some douche grabbed a wad of cash out of his guitar case and booked. Me and about 5 other dudes chased him down and beat his ass in that little crooked alley between Marshal Sq. Mall and Cosmo's (? I think it is fenced off now)

Eli never stopped playing, he knew we had his back.

Haha that's sweet is he talkative? I've only said a few things to him.

That's crazy, he makes enough money to raise 8 kids!? You're a great guy for doing that I'd hope a lot of people would do the same.

Go up to him and he's more than willing to have a conversation with anyone.

Years ago, Eli got special permission from the Syracuse common council to play music in the street since it violates a city ordinance. Dudes a legend.

Great character. I have seen him playing in brutal weather, happy as can be.

He has a WWW presence...
