Perhaps you can file this way down the list of problems, but how many games now have we just thrown away the final drive of halftime.

Today, not only do we waste a timeout on a 2 point conversion that’s already being run half the distance closer than normal. Then we get a first down, but we don’t spike the ball. The QB doesn’t then throw it away on the next play when he just needs to know that he has to.

Clock runs out. Yet again.

Things like this should improve over the course of a season, no?

Really bummed about a lot of things, but figured I’d pick this low hanging fruit since it’s another bad trend.

I think the only positive today to me was seeing the running game finally get going against FSU’s backups. Hope they can build on that.

That was a bizarre sequence.

Still not understanding why (1) TD didn't spike the ball after the shovel pass; and (2) why he didn't throw the ball away on the ensuing play. With respect to the latter, did he really not understand the game situation?

Devils advocate maybe because his instinct was to run and try and make a play?

I wonder if the intentional grounding penalties from earlier this year are creeping in the back of Tommy's mind. He's under a lot of pressure but if he heaves it towards the sideline and nobody is in the area, he'll get flagged for it

But you can't in that situation. I think that's one of the points of the OP. This has happened over and over.

Perhaps, but unless he ran either OOB or for a first down, the half is over.
I mean from where I saw I was amazed he was able to even avoid a sack on that play

Maybe it’s on the staff then for not having a quick option to throw to. But there has to be a foot of an eligible receiver you can throw it at. Even if you throw a pick, you’re no worse off.

A pick has a possibility of being 6 against you. Just saying

So I think what you’re saying is that this situation is so hopeless that I should stop hoping.

I’m just saying you have to look at it from his position. He is in the pocket less then a second from getting hit. He needs a move so he tries to take it to a first down and comes up short.

Every time you throw the ball you risk an interception for a TD.

That sequence was a comedy of errors, by the coaches and players. It’s not getting any better this year. Maybe next year.

Given that we didn’t spike it on the previous first down, I’m thinking he probably needed to run it into the end zone.

Also if we want to blame devito what about the WR’s that we’re slow walking to the line with like -5 seconds. Where’s the outrage there?

Without having read the replies here...no coach or QB fury here is a real problem

Our WRs stink. Happy now?

When they started that last drive of the half, there was 1:35 left.
So there's 95 seconds left and they start a drive from the SU 25 with a run down the middle of the field.

I assumed that they weren't even trying to score but they wanted to just run down the clock so that FSU couldn't score again.

This has happened a bunch of times this season.

If you could go into more depth like you do devito’s errors sure.
Two weeks in a row Jackson dropped a potential touchdown.
I really like TJ but both of those were game changers imo. Needs to clean that up

I haven’t pulled any punches in critiquing our receivers. They’ve been terrible this year. The whole bunch.
